Return to Neeeeeeerrrrrrddddd

(page created by Ali)

I like knowing random things. I have a whole section of my brain designated for random information.

….of course that's not literally true; but I do know a lot of "useless info".

One of the things I like knowing is about different actors and which series they play in. I'm not talking like looking up actors and studying their IMDB pages. I like listening to/watching TV and films, so discovering characters in shows that are played by actors you know is always interesting to me.

don't ask me why.

So here's some things I've picked up:

Joss Whedon Actors in How I Met Your Mother

From Buffy the Vampire Slayer

  • Alyson Hannigan (played Willow on Buffy; plays Lily on HIMYM)
  • Alex Denisof (played Wesley on Buffy and Angel; played Sandy Rivers on HIMYM)

From Angel

  • Amy Acker (played Fred Burkle on Angel; played Penelope on HIMYM]

From Firefly & Serenity

  • Morena Baccarin (played Inara on Firefly and Serenity; played Chloe on HIMYM)

From Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog

  • Neil Patrick Harris (played Dr. Horrible in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog; plays Barney on HIMYM)

Actors from Bewitched on Alfred Hitchcock Presents

  • Elizabeth Montgomery (played Serena on Bewitched and played Karen on an episode of AHP)
  • Dick York (played Darrin on Bewitched and played different characters in six episodes of AHP)
  • David White (played Larry Tate on Bewitched and played Mr. Barberosa on an episode of AHP)

Just for Kicks

  • Leslie Nielsen, the hilarious actor who played in the Naked Gun movies, played in Airplane!, played in the film adaptation of Mr. Magoo, (among several other films) played a serious killer in two episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He also played in the followup show, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.
  • Carol Burnett, best known for her amazing '70s sketch show, The Carol Burnett Show, played a misguided woman who unexpectedly gets the help from a wayward guardian angel on The Twilight Zone.

Glee on Heroes

  • Jessalyn Gilsig, who played the terribly messed up ex-wife of Will Shuester in FOX's show Glee was also on NBC's Heroes. She played Claire Bennet's birth mother, Meredith Gordon.
  • Dianna Agron, who plays Quinn Fabray in Glee plays a cheerleader in the second season of Heroes who taunts the inconspicuous 'new girl in town' (Claire) into doing a jump off the high tower.

Double Actor on Star Trek

Bewitched on The Twilight Zone

  • Dick York (played Darrin on Bewitched and played various characters in two episodes in The Twilight Zone)
  • David White (played Larry Tate on Bewitched and, like his Bewitched costar, played two different characters in The Twilight Zone)

Star Trek Actors Who Entered the Twilight Zone

  • William Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk on Star Trek plays a superstitious old fool named Don Carter in episode #2.7 called "The Nick of Time". In the final season of The Twilight Zone, Shatner returned to the Zone and played Bob Wilson who sees a gremlin on the wing of a plane in episode #5.03 entitled, "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet". The latter episode was also redone in the 1983 film, Twilight Zone: The Movie. The character of Wilson, however, was not played by William Shatner, but by John Lithgow
  • Leonard Nimoy, best known for his portrayal of the loyal Vulcan, Mr. Spock, played a miscellaneous soldier during WWII in The Twilight Zone
  • George Takei, who played Navigator Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek was in one episode in the fifth season of The Twilight Zone

Teri Hatcher, Superman and Seinfeld

Teri Hatcher was on a show starting in 1993 called, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She played the extremely competitive and kick-ass reporter for the Daily Planet, Lois Lane.

Jerry Seinfeld, who played (a version of) himself in his 1990's sitcom, Seinfeld, was crazy about Superman. Throughout the series run, he makes several references to not only the comics, but the movies as well. He and his best friend on the show, George Costanza (played by Jason Alexander) once had an argument about Superman in their favorite coffee shop.

Teri Hatcher scored a guest spot on Seinfeld in 1993 and played a woman named Sidra Holland who was one of the many girls Jerry dated on the show (it was in episode #4.19 called, "The Implants").

Later, towards the end of Seinfeld's run on NBC, Jerry has a girlfriend who's name is Lois and he is so excited about that coincidence that he says her name several times every time he talks to her. It's just interesting that, years before, he "dated" the same actress who portrayed the famed Lois on a different network.
